i see the driver but can not select it as output -cubase 12
these are the settings from ports ( i do not know where i can change them?)
I do not get the realtek audio selected as extra output for sonic sounds.

What do you have in the Studio > Studio setup > Audio System > ASIO Driver dropdown list ? You should have the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO as a selectable option, otherwise, you are for a reinstallation of it.
Beside this, it seems that the project that you just opened has been using, at a point, ports from your motherboard sound chip : something to avoid, if possible, for different reasons, one of them being that there is no dedicated ASIO driver for it - beside using ASIO4All, and it’s a whole different story.
So, I wouldn’t worry too much about it, the main concern being that you should be able to select the dedicated UR22C (Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO) driver, after its eventual reinstallation.
i have installed asio4all driver, because i did not get any output.
now i have sound if i open halion or groove.
the thing i can not figure out is this:
i made a few tracks as test. if i select track 3 with a halion sound and record some data, it also records the same data on track 1 and 2…and others
i cant find the culprit. seems my keyboard sy77 sends out wrong midi?
i did not use cubase for a long time and am realy a newbee in this,
thnx for responding.
OK. I’m afrid that I can’t help a lot more on the driver side, as I never used ASIO4All. The essential is that you are able to use Cubase with it.
I’d rather guess that your SY77 works perfectly well. Actually, this is normal : Cubase 12 records MIDI incoming data for any track, as soon as it is record enabled. To record data only on specific channels, you can use the Edit > Preferences > MIDI > MIDI filters panel and select in it the channels that you no longer want to be recorded/heard. The problem is that this setting will be global for all the project opened.
So, an alternative and more subtle way to filter specific channels is to activate the Input transformer set as ‘Track’ (NOT ‘Global’) and use the already existing presets for that (the Factory presets > Channels filtering ones). The Channel dropdown list in the inspector sets the MIDI channel output only.
I suggest you to make the following test. Take an instrument track and :
Looking more closely at the result : you’ll see that all notes recorded have the MIDI channel set in your SY77 (2). BUT, when played back and setting the MIDI Monitor window in front, you’ll see that all the notes played have the channel set in the Channel dropdown list, excepting if you have set it to Any : if the case, the incoming MIDI channel won’t be changed.
This allow any MIDI incoming messages to be redirected to a specific channel : very useful if you use multitimbral instruments or external ones.
Thank you both for your help.
For i was lucky that after days spending time, suddenly Cubase crashed.
It gave me a popup with some options and there i selected the original driver ( the popup shows both) and Cubase was resetting to basics. After opening and started a complete new track it was ( after checking outputs) functioning with the Steinberg ASIO driver. So i think that because i changed to many things and settings, the hardware and software mixed up internally.
I wonder if there is a button ( i cleaned all temp settings) to clear hstory, old unused settings etc.etc.
The ASIO4all however makes it possible to use my computer speakers. (realtek)
The Steinberg driver used as output the UE22C output ( connected with my mixer)

Something strange happend.
After closing the computer and next day restarting Cubase, a popup at the right came up with ASIO4all
I open project from the day before and the same thing happend:
I see the yamaha ASIO listed in cubase, i select it.
Then i check audio settings and it says (greyed out) Not connected.
I select the correct driver but it wont change…can not select.
I re-installed cubase but the same thing happends.
So it must be something with the driver i guess.
I downloaded the update driver and if i run the driver it will be installed as Yamaha in a new folder.
It looks like it can not be usefull in a stand alone folder???
So…can anybody tell me where the ASIO folder from Cubase is located…and if it can be replaced?
