Hey,
Just watched a video where a PT guy was using his range selection tool then hitting a shortcut and mute/unmuting just that chunk of audio, without having to cut that section out - like Cubase seems to want. Been messing with this, to no avail.
Is it possible?
You can.. I’ve got mine setup to option + m… I’m not sure if that was default or not but It’s the command mute/unmute objects
Thanks Dude.
My trouble is that, like you I have it set up to Alt + M, but it still doesn’t do the thing on selected areas of the audio track. Only does the entire track.
Even if you select the range in the upper half of the event? Are you on v15?
Ya. I think I’m not doing something correctly perhaps. Using Range Tool + Mute Object also cuts that section at the boundries, which is what I’m really hoping to avoid.
Got ya… I’m not sure how to get around when it cuts them. I’ll dig and see if I can come up with anything.
thanks brother…appreciate the help!

You’re welcome!! I’m thinking it’s not possible unless you could use a macro somehow… maybe somebody else will chime in with a better idea.
There is no way around this. There will always be cuts made at the range boundaries when muting objects.

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but you could always use an automation lane to mute the track where you need it.
Ya, I do all those things routinely, but was hoping to be able to use Range + Mute the way you can in PT, so you can quickly audition FX, such as throws etc, and quickly play around with it.
Thanks, everyone, for chimin’ in on this topic!
