Once I start an unmixing process there is a progress bar window with cancel button, What is the real intetion of the button as it definetelly doesnt cancel anything
Once the process actually starts (i.e. once you see activity on the progress bar), the cancel button does work.
There is an initial period (during which I assume the models are being loaded into RAM or something) where, if you’ve already clicked Cancel before processing starts, yes, the dialog “greys out”, but it does in fact work.
As far as I can tell, Cancel takes effect after the currently running process is completed. With an older GPU (like my GTX 1060 with 3GB of RAM), it can take a while. A minute’s wait, depending on the number of tracks that need to be unmixed, doesn’t really bother me anymore. If you’re using CPU instead of GPU processing, it could take much longer.
However… a bug is also possible. A few hours ago, Cubase crashed while saving a 21-minute project after it had been unmixed to individual tracks + Unmix Drum + Unmix Chorus while SpectraLayers was still added to the source audio part.
The whole process had to be restarted (60-70 minutes for three individual unmix processes.). After that, I first copied all the unmixed tracks to Cubase audio tracks, then removed SpectraLayers from the source part, and only then saved the project. That worked fine.
