I have been building a cubase project, but when I went to open it today, the computer just hangs for ages, then I get a message saying there’s a serious issue with KERNELBASE.dll. I can create new projects, but not work with old ones that I have.
I searched this and other forums for advice, but found little that seemed promising, except that one user said they got it fixed by repairing all their Windows C++ files. I tried that and restarted the PC, but the only result was that the first time I tried to open Cubase, the same message was about VCRUNTIME140.dll - and then after that it reverted to the original message about KERNELBASE.
Support here seems to suggest that it’s not a Cubase issue, but a system issue. However, many disagree, saying that it’s a result of Cubase asking the system to do something it shouldn’t be asking for. Either way, this is only affecting Cubase and no other programs, so that indicates it’s Cubase.
I tried opening with 3rd party plugins disabled and I could open my projects. Interestingly, when I deleted all the SINE player vsts (which was almost all of them), I could start working with my old projects again, so I thought the problem might be with SINE player. However, I am able to open new projects with SINE player and they work fine, and the SINE player app works fine on its own too, so it’s something to do with those projects.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I’m completely locked out of my projects at the moment.
