Cannot save Workspace as default in WL12

Still having this problem. Yesterday the ribbon was collapsed, the overview was visible and the windows at the top were not what was saved. Why does WL keep messing with the was the screen is saved??? I never had this ongoing problem with any other version of WL going way back to WL 1.6.2. Where is this information saved and why would WL decide to change the window setup on its own. Thanks in advance.

The last workspace layout is saved in this file, which can be erased if you like.
\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\WaveLab Pro 12\Presets\WindowLayout4__last

If there is a change, there is obviously a reason. I ignore which one, but WaveLab does not do that.

Anyway, save a workspace layout that you like and when you have a problem, select it from the menu to restore this workspace you need

Thanks for the information…
I appreciate the reply.

I will also report a rise in screen layout scrambling.

I administer about 15 wavelab stations of various vintages. For some curious reason, the last 3 months have been plagued with screen arrangement shifts that twist the operators head around and looks bad in front of high paying clients.

This is across WL 8, 9 & 12. Different chipsets, windows versions and WL versions. None of the daws are on the internet so I rule out unexpected OS updates.

Yes, recalling a layout preset usually gets us back to normal. But why? Why does stuff shift in the first place? I have Been administering WL since 2001.

It’s a recent, puzzling and unwelcome annoyance.

Maybe some Windows updates have changed certain screen management parameters, which may affect WaveLab—either directly or, more likely, indirectly. By indirectly, I mean that a graphics card driver could be impacted by a Windows update, which in turn affects WaveLab. But this is just speculation. On my up-to-date Windows system, everything works fine.
But of course I will keep an eye on that.
