Can't activate Cubese 14 Pro license in eLCC while updating from Cubase 11 Pro

Hi and Marry Christmas everyone!

I’m having trouble activating my Cubase 14 Pro license (updating from Cubase 11 Pro).

Steinberg is soon discontinuing the eLicenser system, so I thought I’d buy an update to avoid future issues. The purchase went smoothly, and I was able to download and register the license in Steinberg Activation Manager, but I’m getting a message saying the license is waiting for activation.

When I try to activate the new license in eLicenser Control Center, I get a message saying I don’t have any licenses that can be updated, even though my USB key has an active Cubase 11 Pro license with a “Grace Period Eligible” note.

The problem seems to be that, as I found out after purchasing, Steinberg Activation Manager claims I’m only eligible for an update to Cubase 13 Pro, not Cubase 14 Pro (even though I selected the option to update from Cubase 11 Pro during the purchase).

Is there something I can do to resolve this issue?

I’ve had the same problem before.
The following helped me:
I close all Steinberg programs, i.e. DownloadManager, ActivationManager, eLicenser or similar.
Then start the ActivationManager and go to the Activate/Deactivate button and check its status, or press the button again.
If no change has been made, try entering the activation code again in DownloadAssistant.

If none of this helps, please search in support help files.
Good luck

Ouch.
The Grace Period part might mean that you could have updated for free to a higher version from Cubase 11. So, in a way, you don’t have Cubase 11 but a newer version. It seems that now the update system is looking for the Cubase 11 license but you should be on C12, C13 or C14 already.
In other words - most likely you spent too much money.

Kindly check this article:

The first thing to do would be to use the Grace Period free update and see, with which license you end up.

Since it is very close to the holiday break you might have trouble reaching anybody but you should try to phone your local Steinberg support on Monday.

You are perfectly right. I checked earlier and I can update for free to Cubase 12. I’ll will call my regional support partner, maybe I’ll get some money back.

THX to everyone for helping!

Nice.
You need to return the update that you bought for a refund. You can’t use it.
Of course, now your primary reason for updating (changing from USB stick to Steinberg Licensing) is gone. C14 might still be worth doing the update, it has some very nice feature additions, but only you can decide if you still want to update.
