Hey, not sure where to post this.
I purchased Cubase LE 11 quite a few years ago (2020) and had been using it. Earlier this year I bought the Upgrade to Cubase 14 (2025) .
Ive got an email with a DAC and can see my Profile on the Steinberg account page lists my License (from 2020).
When I run Download Manager it fails to connect to servers.
When I run the Activation Manager, it says I have no license - and recommends I use Download Manager (which doesnt work).
I downloaded Cubase 14 directly from the website, but that pops up saying ‘no license found’.
Does anyone know how can I activate and use the software Ive purchased?
Should I be using eLicense? (Though it was discountinued earlier this year)
I only ask as under my Profile, it says: Cubase LE with a ‘Softe eLicenser’ token
Some weeks ago, Steinberg had to update the SSL certificates of the Download Assistant so that older versions can no longer connect to the servers. If you haven’t updated to the latest version yet, just download it from here.
If this doesn’t work either, it’s also possible to redeem your DAC in your Steinberg profile by clicking on the Redeem Code button. Afterwards, the new license should appear in the Activation Manager and you can activate it there.
The download from there has installed a different version than what I had downloaded from the website (yesterday). Oddly, both files have the same name, but this has installed a different Download Assistant.
What’s odd is, under My Products its listed: Cubase LE 11, and*, Cubase LE 15*
But I definitly purchased ‘Cubase Elements 14 Update from Cubase Elements 6 - 11’
When I tried to redeem my DAC it said: Redeeming Cubase Elements 14 (Upgrade from Cubase Elements on eLicenser) requires an appropriate eLicenser license to be registered in your account.
No qualifying license has been found in your account.
Please register an eLicenser with a qualifying license and try again.
Also, I went to my profile and followed the steps you gave, I got the same error message.
Its been a long time, but I assume I must have had a valid license at some point from when I was using Cubase LE 11.
Also if the eLicenser has been shut down, will this even be possible?
@Martin90 I opened my eLic Control Centre, and can see my license for Cubase LE has a message: ‘deactivated Soft-eLicenser’
I can not ‘repair’ it or anything else due to servers being down.
Do you also have an old license of Cubase Elements? Cubase LE and Cubase Elements are not the same. Unlike Cubase Elements, Cubase LE usually comes bundled with a hardware device and can’t be purchased separately. It also provides less functionality compared to Elements. Therefore, you probably bought the wrong update. If that’s the case, you can contact FastSpring and request a refund.
If you’re satisfied with LE, you don’t need to buy an upgrade to a larger Cubase edition, like Elements, Artist, or Pro. Cubase AI and LE are automatically updated to the latest version as soon as it’s available.
So you have two LE licenses in your profile, one for 11 and one for 15.
This is not going to work, because you do not have a Elements license to be updated. You have just LE licenses. This would be the correct upgrade path to get a Cubase 15 Elements license.
You can not repair it because the eLicenser system has been shutdown in May 2025. But your LE license is in your profile, so it still exists. You also have the Cubase 15 LE license, that doesn’t even need the eLicenser.
Just install the Cubase 15 from the Download Assistant, open the Activation Manager and there you should be able to activate this license.
