I’m on Cubase 13. First I should menetion, I’m very new to the DAW, and so have not yet ventured down the road of recording from the Yamaha into Cubase.
I’ll list steps used so you will know all context around this issue:
I opened an empty project, and imported a midi file from my Yamaha DGX 670
I made some edits, and tested, it played fine, and I exported it out.
I loaded it into the Yamaha, sounded fine, and recorded on another track
I imported that file into Cubase to another empty project
So, at this point having just imported the file when I try to play, I get nothing. After some thought and a bit of research, I decided it needed to be activated. I cannot see any way to activate it.
On the first project, ,that does work, it asks if I want to activate it when I load it. This one does not do that.
Another note: At no time do I see a clock in the upper right corner to activate it.
So I went in and booted up the computer, and loaded the project that was not working. It played this time. Ok, so maybe it activated (although it did not ask me if I wanted to.
So I opened the other project, and it DID ask if I wanated to activate, and I said yes. It played, but when I toggled over to the first one, it would no longer play.
I opened the list per your instructions, and like yours, it shows the greyed out, with a check mark, activation control. Still don’t see any clock in upper right corner.
Well, here is apparently the issue: You cannot activate 2 projects at once.
So, the first project I open will play. If I open a second one, it askes if I want to activate it. If I say no, then the first one still plays, and the second one does not.
If I say yes to actibvate when I open the second one, then it plays, and the first one does not play.
If I close the second one, the first one still does not play. In order to get it to play, I have to close it and reopen it.
You’ll only see it on the Toolbar while you have two (or more) Projects Open. With only one Project the button serves no purpose, so it isn’t displayed. If you don’t see it when you do have multiple Projects Open then you probably have more items selected to be visible than there is room on the Toolbar to show them all.
