I am setting up my first Dorico 6 playback template with instruments stored on VEPro 8 Server. My woodwinds VEP Server instance plays back on port 1 in Dorico with no problems. The separate server instance for brass plays back on port 2 but here there is a problem–the different brass instruments play back but Dorico will only allow a single expression map for all instruments. When change the expression map for one of the instruments, the change goes to all other brass instruments. In contrast, I can readily change the expression maps for woodwind instruments on port 1.
Can you post a minimal version of the project to check out? Or at least screenshots of the Endpoint Setup dialogs for each VEP VST, for starters. Thanks!
Make sure you’ve set the correct number of ports and channels for that VE Pro plugin instance in Dorico based on your needs. The symptoms you describe (expression map changing for others) usually happens when these settings are insufficient. For instance if you are using the first two ports in an instance, you should set this the values to this at least:
If you don’t set the correct number of ports and channels then there aren’t enough expression map drop-downs allocated there, which similarly prevents you from setting them properly in the track inspector.
I usually preset my expression maps for each channel in this dialog too, as it is faster than doing so via the track inspector. This way I can also set the map for a port/channel combination that I might not be using in this project right now, but I might add later, and this way it will be “pre-set” as it were.
Thanks once again @mducharme! Problem solved.
