Can't attach Dorico file to email (using iPad)

This morning I received, via email attachment, a Dorico file to review from a friend. I use Pro for Windows; she uses Elements for Windows. I downloaded her file to my Dorico for iPad (Lifetime Unlock, latest version). After I made my comments, I tried to attach the file to an email and send from my iPad. I got a message that file extension Dorico cannot be sent as an email attachment.
I transferred the file to my Windows desktop machine and was able to attach the file with no trouble. But no luck with the iPad. Is there a setting on my iPad that needs tweaking?
Thanks!

I’m not sure what this could be. I am able to send a Dorico file as an attachment, using the iOS Mail app, with no problems and no special settings. Are you using Mail, or some other app? Tapping in the message and choosing Attach File?

Hi Carole, can you tell, where your edited project file is sitting on your iPad? Have you had a look in the “Files” app? Can you navigate to the file?
If you can answer all questions with “yes”:
Within the Files app: tap and hold the project file until you see a context menu.
Either 1) choose “Copy”, then change to your “Mail” app, write your email and “Paste” the file into the text area (by tapping and holding an empty space and choosing “paste”). After this you should be able to send the email.
Or 2) start in your “Mail” application, write your email, tap and hold down in the text area and “Attach File” to the email (you will have to navigate to the known location). This second method as described by @asherber above.
3) method: start as in 1), but instead of “Copy” choose “Share”, then select “Mail” and proceed from there.

None of those worked.

I’m using the Gmail app so maybe that’s the problem.

You’re right, the Gmail app won’t allow attaching a Dorico project stored locally on an iPad.

If you can’t use the default Mail app, one workaround is to upload the Dorico project to Google Drive, and then attach it from there in the Gmail app.

yes, my suggestions where aimed at the use of the standard iOS „Mail“ app.

Yes, that’s what I do.

Carole,
you can actually use both applications at the same time (iOS Mail.app and GMail.app). They will always update independently via the IMAP protocol.
