I try to delete a measure with clicking the trash icon , but when I try to do it, the following notes are shifting backwards, which destroys the score. See the attached screenshots. In the first one you see the one beat measure. After deleting it the following notes have moved. I have not the insert modus option turned on.
Try selecting the eighth note rest in that bar, type Shift+B to bring up the bars popover, enter -1e into the popover, and hit Return.
Musically speaking, wouldn’t it be better to delete the barline only, in order to make the preceding bar complete? Or simply delete both TS signposts? Or do you want a repeat structure there?
That bin button is a more standard “delete”, it deletes the contents of the music – that’s why the music moved back, because you had removed the quaver’s worth of time from the piece.
Because the quaver is inside its own mini bar (probably because you’ve added explicit barlines around here? indicated by the red signposts) you can delete it and leave the surrounding music (assuming my memory isn’t totally failing me) by following either of these steps for deleting bars:
- Using the system track (the floating greyish bar at the top of the system)
- Using the popover
Although, having said all that, Peter’s comment that deleting the first of the 2 barlines around the quaver should result in the preceding bar becoming complete again.
