I’m using a Novation Impulse 61 Controller keyboard, and am trying to get Cubase to respond to the Start / Stop / Rewind controls. In my research I found Cubase does not have MMC (Midi Machine Control) switched on by default. When I found how to turn this on, it still does not work. I have another DAW where it does work (switched on by default)
I tried the Midi Remote feature that came out with Cubase 14 (I think it was 14), and it doesn’t seem to support my Novation controller properly, creates more issues than worth the time to investigate.
Anybody have any tips on how I could MMC working for this device ? Or, what I may be missing to enable MMC ?
MMC is usually used when Cubase is time slaved to something like a tape machine where it is supposed to remote control transport controls of the tape machine.
Do you have such a setup?
Thanks both of you for the very helpful replies . . .
@Johnny_Moneto . . . originally, did an AI search and went down a rabbit hole to nowhere, as it suggested MMC was what was needed, and no, you are correct, I don’t have any external device for time slaving.
I added a Mackie HUI device in Studio Setup, and routed it to the MIDI ins and outs . . . poof ! it works . . . Cubase now responds to my Novation Keyboard transport controls.
Thanks so much for your knowledge, and willingness to help . . . certainly pointed me in the right direction to get this working.
