Hi all. For the life of me I can’t get a new percussion map for the Dynamo percussion library in Orchestral Tools SINE to work. I’ve never used a percussion map before (or SINE) so I’m probably doing something stupid.
I’m starting with just Dynamo’s kick drum:

If I understand it correctly, this instrument should be using MIDI channel 1.
I’m confused by which notes Dynamo actually uses for this instrument, judging by its keyboard it appears to use a C but it doesn’t label the octaves, and both of the 2 highlighted keys seems to sound the same to me:
For good measure, I tried mapping almost all of the C’s:
I’m trying to map this kick drum to Dorico’s “Bass Drum”:

Here is my routing:
When I click Dynamo’s on-screen keyboard I can hear the kick drum, but I can’t get any sound on playback.
Hi! I understand why you mapped all those C notes (the famous reference note problem…), but I’m not sure it’s a good option there.
Try with only C4 or C5 (those seem to be the ones chosen there). And if it still doesn’t work, try changing the reference note. Because if Dorico tries and triggers C1, nothing will sound out, and Dorico has no clue about what’s ringing and what’s not (there’s no feedback circuit to tell it if it works or not). Therefore all notes mapped into the percussion map must be really producing sound on the VSTi side, otherwise you get surprises (if I understand well how it works). Hope it helps!

Yes! I removed all but C4 and C5 and now it works. I guess I must have started with C3 (that’s what it looked like to me) and added from there. Many thanks!
Any idea why they map C4 and C5 to what appear to be the same sound?

Some percussion is mapped twice so you can play “right hand” and “left hand” sticks on a keyboard.
However, I do spend most of my life staring at instruments in the SINE Player and crying “Why, Why, Why? Why would you do that?” to the heavens.

If you assign multiples/many of the same instrument and technique to different MIDI notes then you can input notes using all those options (if your note input preferences are set to use the percussion map) but for playback Dorico will use the lowest/first item in the list that matches the instrument and technique.

I’d say it can help you play a “roll” (or a flam) using two fingers on two different hands
Or even with one hand, you can play an octave tremolo much faster than repeating one key.
