I’m suddenly unable to do anything, because it seems I’ve accidentally hit some command that disables highlighting or deleting of regions.
I can highlight individual tracks but not regions.
So I’m basically paralyzed.
Though I’ve had Elements a few years, I don’t use it really often and my skill set is modest. But I have always been able to record my songwriting demos and my guitar students stuff etc.
Anyway, if someone can possibly help I will be most grateful.
what you refer to as regions are probably audio events in the Cubase lingo.
Can you post a screenshot of the project view? Maybe we can see something on screen that explains the behaviour.
@rachel.jane.roberts From your screenshot it looks like you have selected a portion of an Audio Event using the Range Tool. Unless I misunderstand what you’re trying to achieve, you will need to Split the Audio Event after which you can move the two Events freely. Here’s one easy way to do it.
Split the Audio Event. Using the Split Tool (), click on your Audio Event where you want the split point. (You can temporarily activate the Split Tool by holding down the Opt modifier key.) This splits the one Audio Event into two.
Using the Object Selection Tool (), click and drag one of the Events to its new position.
Thanks so much for that, both of you! I’ll try, but for some reason what I call the highlighter tool (the arrow button top right) is not as flexible as before. I can’t highlight any parts of the audio event with anything like precision. Maybe I need an update or a plug-in.
I’ll certainly try what you suggest.
