Can't import audio file from Apple Music

Using Apple Music version 1.3.4.56 (Ventura OS) and Cubase Pro 12, can’t drag-and-drop .m4a (EDITED - I originally thought these were .mp4) files from Music into Cubase. Do I have to get a converter to accomplish this. If so, what formats does Cubase Pro 12 support?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Sorry, Cubase doesn’t support MP4 files type.

Figured that. But what format should I covert to? And is there a recommended converter?

Hi,

You can use WAV or FLAC to don’t loose the quality.

From apple support website (search for " Convert music file formats in Music on Mac")

  1. In the Music app on your Mac, choose Music > Settings, then click Files.
  2. Click Import Settings.
  3. In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert songs to, then click OK to save the settings. (I chose WAV encoder)
  4. Select one or more songs in your library, then choose File > Convert > Create [format] Version.

After following this process, I was able to drag the created .wav file into Cubase as desired.
