I’ve been having problems loading older projects with every update after Cubase Pro 8.0.10 . Cubase 8.0.10 load previous projects fine , but all updates past this would fail. I upgrade to 8.5 hoping it would resolve this but not such luck . On a separate machine with a fresh install of Win 7 x64 I installed Cubase 8.5 as a test and the same error on loading occurs. I selected one project as a test which was made in 8.0.10 and removed absolutely everything so it was effectively a blank project. Given I can’t attach a project file the attached jpg shows the error which always occurs.
The main machine is Win 7 x64 , all drivers / software upto date.
