THIS IS VERY STUPID … STILL NOT FIXED…
my old cubase license disappeared
NO CUBASE TO DO MY WORK
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL…
Now the only thing I cant get pass is the recovery part of the licensor
Smh
Its a joke Steinberg,
When I try to activate Cubase 11, I get “elicenser too old download the new version.” I have the new version 6.12.5.1278. Also the activation number is shorter than the others and does not fill the whole activation box, which is odd. I’ve been trying for 2 days now and was so looking forward to using it. Its all a bit of an expensive damp squid
Go to the Steinberg website and register your product. It will then give you another code to put in the licenser! If you don’t have an account create one.
my older Cubase License is still missing and cant recover it

THIS IS VERY ANNOYING STEINBERG…
update:
after live chat with Steinberg support, i got new license number, and my cubase is alive again!
finally resolved!
Trying to upgrade from 10.5 Artist to 11 Pro on a Mac. Performing maintenance tasks on EL seems to be working, with everything listed as OK. But when I key in the activation code, I get the following error: “Currently, there is no license available which can be upgraded by your upgrade license. Please connect an USB-eLicenser, which holds an appropriate upgradable license, to your computer.” Not sure what that means, as my USB stick is working fine, still able to work with 10.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m all sorted here as of yesterday afternoon, C11 is up and running.
Are people still having issues?
Edit: I’ve taken the Cubase 11 update warning off my website since I haven’t seen any more complains on here about this recently.
Just bought Cubase Elements 11 yesterday. Can not get e-License, I´m stuck and cant get started … ![]()
My license is working but now that I am running Cubase I found out today that it wont record any audio. 10.5 will record fine, but in 11 it records and creates a file but there is no audio. Sweet
I have exactly the same problem, only on Windows and not on a Mac.
When I look at the list of upgradeable versions, Cubase Artist 10.5 is missing.
I believe that the solution is for them to change something small on their licence server.
They must know of this by now and I find it frustrating they don’t communicate on it.
They have forgotten one important rule: keep-customer-informed-every-day, when there are huge problems like this. It would be nice to have even only one update per date, that actions are ongoing. Now there hasn’t been any new information since 12.11 and they are still selling new products even customers can’t use it.
I have exactly the same problem.
I cannot run Cubase 11 Elements.
E-Licenser is activated. Software is not.
E-Licenser tells me:
“Currently, there is no license available which can be upgraded by your upgrade license. Please connect an USB e-licenser which holds an appropriate upgradable license to your computer.”
I don’t want to upgrade. I only want to run the program I purchased a license to run.
It won’t open. E-Licenser won’t let it.
I thought Elements did not require a USB dongle?
I am having the exact same problem in December, 2021.
I purchased Cubase Elements, which supposedly does not need a USB e-licenser.
I cannot open the program.
My e-licenser informs me:
“Currently, there is no license available which can be upgraded by your upgrade license. Please connect an USB e-licenser which holds an appropriate upgradable license to your computer.”
Your error is nothing to do with the long thread you posted at the end of, which was about the eLicenser server outages shortly after the Cubase 11 launch.
Your error is because you are attempting to activate an upgrade licence without the correct licence to upgrade being installed. eLicenser is strict about upgrade licences - the upgrade product must be for the correct edition and version. Say, for example, you bought an upgrade from Cubase LE to Cubase Elements - this will not upgrade a Cubase AI licence, even though the upgrade from Cubase AI to Elements is cheaper.
You are correct that you do not need a USB eLicenser for Cubase Elements - only Artist and Pro need a USB eLicenser and only then until Cubase 12 is released.
Open eLicenser Control Center and look at what it is showing for your existing Cubase licence - edition and version (e.g. Cubase AI 10). If you do not see that licence, activate it on the computer you are attempting to upgrade (you can reactivate using the MySteinberg part of the Steinberg website if necessary), then try again. If you do see the licence you are attempting to upgrade, compare what you see in eLicenser Control Center to your invoice for your recent purchase, then work with customer services to resolve the mismatch.
Thanks.
Tech Support helped me to get it working w/o
need to purchase software or a USB licenser.
Perhaps this was because I had been a licensed CB user
in the past. I don’t know but it is up & running.
Cubase 12 now uses a new licensing system:
