How do you make the B in bass clef with ties into a B as a whole note? Tried force duration, O, then 8 for whole note, didn’t work.
Welcome to the forum, @vanillaoat. You’ll need to write it in a separate voice if you want it to be shown as a whole note. Select the two F notes and type Shift+V to move them into a new down-stem voice. That should make the B appear as a whole note.

If I understand you correctly you want a “whole” note and another rhythmical value alongside in the same system.
This is the case, where you use different voices. Your whole note will be in one voice and the other notes in another voice.
Voices can be shown in different colours (View Menu). To put a note into a different voice, select it and hit v. If you haven’t created a second voice for the system yet, use shift-v instead.

Thanks all. I got this, which is close to what I want. Made the top and bottom each a voice. Would like to get that F under the b though, and get rid of the rest symbols.
Nevermind, I got it. That’s a bingo! Thanks all, for the fast response.
I deleted everything in the bottom clef and re-inputted the notes by voice.

Good you have figured it out.
It is helpful in these cases to show voices as colours.
Instead of re-inputting the music, you could also select the first f and hit v. This would toggle the voice of that note.
