Can't Select Full Vertical with modifiers with Range tool after new update

As the title says: I can’t select full vertical with the range tool anymore by using modifier keys. I assume this is because of the new Audio Segment feature that somehow ruptured Select Full Vertical, even though they use different modifier keys.

I use this all the time and very much need it to work again.

Anyone else experience this?

I don’t have this issue.
Are on Mac or Windows?
Which modifier keys are assigned to the Range tool’s actions?

Huh! Thanks for chiming in. I’m on Mac and tried assigning different modifiers to check, but it doesn’t work here.

And when you say “anymore” did you update Cubase or macOS? Did you change something in the OS’ key commands?

It started happening as soon as I upgraded to C14.0.20 last week. No Mac updates in the past month or so.

I tried disabling prefs and reinstalling Cubase, too. Might be something with C14.0.20 and a plugin since it wasn’t happening with any previous version, or something specific to my system with this new version.

@Martin.Jirsak Sorry to summon you. Is Range Tool → Select Full Vertical working on your Mac?

Hi,

Common, no problem at all, of course.

Yes, it is working on Mac on my side with Cubase 14.0.20 (and it was definitely working with Cubase 14.0.10; I’m using it quite often).

Of course, it’s Option+Shift on Mac by default.

Thanks for chiming in Martin. I guess it must be something specific with C14.0.20 and one of my plugins or my system, that wasn’t happening with previous versions.

Any suggestions on what to try? As I said: I already tried disabling preferences as well as reinstalling Cubase.

Hi,

Did you customize the Tool Modifiers by any chance?

I didn’t, no. I double checked them and also tried changing them to others.

Hi,

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

Thanks Martin, Just tried, have the same issue. Could it be a plugin that C14.0.20 is now not playing well with but did before in previous versions?

I fail to see how a plugin could interfere in such way.

I just made a post about this, will delete it again, but i can confirm this. Im on windows 11 and 10, and does not work on either pc.
The key modifers before this was ctrl+shift - which are now for the new audio segment function…
they changed in the preferences to alt+shift - but it does not work…

Hi, select full vertical should work as expected, so I’m very interested in what’s going wrong here.
Are you using combined tool or range tool? Could check both?
I know you already tried, but could you try assigning different modifiers and retry?
Is you’re mouse cursor on a certain track type while dragging the range selection?
Cheers
Dirk

Interesting! And on Windows, while I’m on Mac.

FYI, I tried exchanging the modifiers between Audio Segment Editing and Select Full Vertical, and it works as a temporary fix.

Thanks Dirk. I tried exchanging the two modifiers between Audio Segment Editing and Select Full Vertical instead of just using a different one for Select Full Vertical…and that worked. None of the other modifiers I tried worked previously. This could be a temporary solution in this case.

EDIT: No go…Audio Segment Editing doesn’t work properly when I do this.

oh, surprising. So when you exchange, both functions are working then?

Never mind, actually. Select Full Vertical works but Audio Segment Editing is now unable to lower the volume, it only detects the segments. It works fine if I go back to the original modifier keys, but then Select Full Vertical again stops working.

Ok, thanks for checking and sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll investigate next week and hope to find a solution.
Is the green volume handle shown? Does lowering the volume work if you click on the audio segment while holding the modifier and then move the volume handle of the selected range?
