For some reason I cannot select multiple tracks. No combination of holding shift, control, alt, or function allow me to select multiple tracks. The usual outcome is the colour palette coming up allowing me to select a colour for the track, but no way to select multiple tracks, it did work sporadically once, I believe it was with the shift key, or shift and ctrl, I don’t remember, but I was never able to replicate it after this one instance.

I expect you are talking about a selection in the Project window. Don’t click to the left side of the track, where is the track color. Click to the most right part, or to the track name, please.
