Can't select notes between two points using shift anymore?

To be unified? Shift-click selection of notes

That did it! You get the prize :-)… Not sure what was going on there but I renamed preferences.xml in Library-Application Folder-Steinberg-Dorico to preferencesOLD.OLDxml, re-opened, and it now works!

Much thanks all -

Please zip up both your new and old preferences.xml files and attach them here, and we should hopefully be able to work out what the difference is.

I tried this on my computer and the “shift-click” behavior is working as expected (intervening notes are selected). The only obvious difference is that I’m on Sonoma 14.6.1 and you’re on Sonoma 14.7.1. Maybe something changed between those versions of Mac OS?

I’m on Sonoma 14.7.2 - updated a few days ago after being on 14.7.1 for some weeks. The shift-click selection has always behaved as it should.

I’m encountering this behavior occasionally as well, sometimes I have to do the selection a second time.It seems that there must be a longer gap between pressing the SHIFT key and the click. But I’m sure that it didn’t occur until the 5.1.60 update. (macOS Sequoia)

Did this happen to anyone in Windows 10–11?

Unfortunately, nothing jumps out at me from the preferences files. The only options that I can conceive of making a difference that differ between the factory settings and the settings you had were:

– Changing the drag threshold on the Note Input and Editing page
– Changing the default click-drag behaviour (on the same page)
– Disabling live editing of notes (i.e. Enable note pitch and rhythmic position editing using the mouse)

But none of these ought to have any impact at all on the behaviour of Shift-click.
