Can't update to 15.0.10

Where do you get when you boot? Did you try to press the power button?
And yes you can perform an inplace upgrade with that usb but if that happened to me i would perform a clean install. Did you save your data? Can you restore that? Are you on a lap or desktop? You can backup your data if you’re able to mount your internal SSD / HD as external though using another machine. Easy with a desktop a bit more difficult with a laptop.

I get to the Asus motherboard logo and no longer.
I pressed and pressed and…
I’m on a desktop.
I have a former neighbor who’s a PC technician, think I’ll give him a call.
I’d rather not have a clean install because of all programmes, sound expansions etc. have to be reinstalled. Been there done that years back.
Was about to DL the windows media creation tool on my wife’s PC in order to create a bootable stick and hopefully repair the win installation from it. But her machine runs win10 , not good enough to run 11. So not sure a creation from that would work.
Wonderful to be a noob
I’ll keep you informed.
Cheers .

You can download the ISO and create the bootable usb with Rufus.

In any case I highly recommend you to make a backup of your data before doing anything.

well finally suceeded pressing into the blue screen. Included some power offs also, I was advised. windows could not repair - “could not open app”, but I managed to go back to my newly set restorepoint and set the system a few days back. It worked.

Now I’m back at the beginning: The machine works, but I’m still unable to install/delete C15. “at least one container is missing”….

remembered a message saying some files were missing in halion and I deleted the programme and content succesfully, but cannot install the new downloads “due to an unknown error”.

Good thing is, I’m back online and will keep on fighting.

Now go with this:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

just copy and paste in your command prompt as admin, press enter and let it work.

It won’t hurt.

P.S. it needs internet connection.

Puli, my man/woman

I actually went through this also and suceeded, “completed succesfully” (the sfc as well). Unfortunately without luck.

I did manage to install Halion again but not the content. It says an icon container is missing - think i forgot to mention “icon” earlier on. On my desktop screen the c15 icon has turned into a piece of paper folded in the upper right corner. As if it is a text file.

Thanks so much for your patience and guidance.

well it’s been a while and I forgot about this.

Just want to inform you all, that I wrote Steinberg Software Support and was contacted by Oscar, a nice fella, who suggested a few things that did not work and finally suggested using teamviewer to have a look inside the machine. He flew around deleting and fiddling. And he succeeded in fixing the issue.

Thanks to my new friend Oscar and to Steinberg for brilliant support.

For the benefit of anyone else who may experience this problem in future, do you have any insight into what Oscar did?

Sorry, I don’t. He was very fast at deleting files and reinstalling .
My post was meant as information of the possibility to use TeamViewer and Steiny’s willingness to help out that way.
