Caret Issues

Hi everyone! I’m recently new to Dorico and I’ve been loving it. I’ve been working on a big musical theatre project since August and haven’t really had any issues until today.

For some reason, while editing in “Write” mode, the caret is not matching the time signature that’s in the measure. For example, I was in a 4/4 bar trying to input, and there were 11 carets above the measure when there should be 8. One of the reasons why I love Dorico is the feature of the carets to help inputting move faster. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Thank you!

and see if you have a red signpost showing an errant time signature. You can delete this and possibly restore the correct time signature.

Posting a cut down version showing the errant bar here would be helpful.

Do you mean the “Duration Grid”? The grid is the ticks that make up the beats. The caret is the thing that marks the position within the grid.

If you changed the value of the grid, then that will affect how many marks you get in each bar. A dotted sixteenth will give you 11 ticks.

It’s the little note icon in the bottom left of the window.

Oh! Yes. I meant the duration grid. (I didn’t know they were two different things…oops!) This fixed the problem. Thank you so much!!!
