I want to add a natural sign at the indicated place, but it appears in the previous bar. How can this be resolved?
In Engrave select the notehead and set the accidental property to ‘show’.
When I enter a natural sign in bar 4, it appears in bar 3. Is that correct? Can it be made to appear only in bar 4?
The tied note can only have a single pitch (otherwise it is two notes slurred together)!

If you select the notehead in Engrave mode, then you should be able to assign an accidental midway through a tie.
