my PC installed KB5083769 and KB5082417 and after reboot, my CC121 stopped working. It marks with a yellow “!” in the device manager and it keeps connecting and disconnecting.
I know the driver is close to antique and the new MIDI stack for Windows is in the making. I had to install the preview release of the new stack because my workstation (Korg KRONOS) also stopped being detected after an earlier Windows update.
My question is: Do your CC121s still work in current Windows?
If you get a yellow bang in device manager, this is before the new MIDI stack is even able to see or work with the device, so something else is up.
There’s a thread about the CC21 on our Discord server started by another customer, in which they got the CC21 working under the new stack. But that wasn’t the same issue. Please feel free to start a new thread there under #midi-user-questions and we’ll work to get this sorted out.
With a yellow bang and disconnecting, it’s worth considering
Bad cable (a surprising number of issues caused by usb charging cables used instead of data cables)
Bad USB port or USB port driver
Not enough power going to the device (power management gets tweaked a bit in updates primarily for laptops per the manufacturers, so this is always a consideration)
