maybe Apply Channel Order to all for now?
(I’m sorry, it’s not clear to me if it is a bug or feature in VL)
You can define channel order for each Part, but there are also tools to apply to all as Felician pointed out. Click the “Order” icon.
Hi, it’s the first thing i did. I will try it once again and report.
For me it’s not a feature and not a bug, i don’t need it anyway.
Hi @kyru ! I don’t like this feature/behaviour either, maybe never will, but I can emagine scenarios where it comes handy and practical
hello, this feature definitely does not work properly, has never worked before. Before I run out of hair, I will not use the mixer view until version 3.0 anymore. With a little hope, this feature will no longer be available.
At least on windows for me works as expected, right click on a channel, apply order to all , done
you lucky one.
excuse me asking you such @kyru … can you screen-rec as you “Apply ch order for all” and it’s not working? Tested just right now. Let’s find out why you can’t “Apply to all”?
ok, let’s try it.

I have send it already to michael weeks ago, i got no answer since.
Okay @kyru , at least I can repeat this on a sandbox project on my computer (OSX):
First it was basically working, then toggled values (Project vs. Part order), rearranged channels, etc…
@musicullum what are we missing to see, do with kyru?
Happy to see that i’m not
BR. Thanks for posting.
@ musicullum
Have you already found a solution for me? BR kyru
@ Michael, chanels still a merry-go-round for me!
The Forum system keeps locking me out, so only saw this now, sorry.
Not quite sure if the “Apply to All” function is well understood. It can only really apply order to global channels, - Out Channels, Group Channels, and Global Part Channels. It tries to “guess” how to treat other channels, but those are highly dynamic.
Hello, for me there is a solution that can be implemented.
Firstly, set the order for all channels used in a song in the mixer and anchor it there.
Order Project is fine, Order Part should be switched off or even better changed to order song so that only Order Project is active.
So, order Song (or order Parts) should generally be able to be switched on or off in preferences.
Visibility works perfectly.
BR kyru
…and what to do with channels are changing part by part (e.g. PartLayers and PartStacks) how will they compete with “anchored” channels or how to “anchor” any of the “part by part changing ones”?
If you want this, i said:
Parts should generally be able to be switched on or off in preferences.
