Hi when i duck a section on an envelope, it defaults to a ramped up and down (pictured). Is there any way to adjust the default envelope shape to be a square instead of including the ramp? thanks
The answer from @Marker is correct.
Two successive points cannot be at the same timeline position. This is why there is always the need to have a fade.
That makes sense thank you.
Montage lets WL cut fade to about 25 µs, hence, setting (25µs) as a minimum might be a good idea.
The Default Fade/Crossfade value is also common for Audio Editor and Montage; therefore, separate options may be good,
What’s so “hence” about this? I doubt there’s any practical difference between 1ms and 25μs.
loop 3ms of a waveform and play with an envelope shape. There is a sonic difference between a 1ms ramp and a 25us ramp.
Even when played in context, a 3db automation cut over 3ms will sound brighter/darker / harder/softer, depending on the envelope shape.
Oh, but there is.
If you see above clip, there is option in Reaper to reduce default fade to one tenth of a millisecond. The above track is a 4 second track and below there is a reference track with 1 ms to left of the marker.
Or even otherwise, when minimum fade is already 25µs, I think that has to be WL’s default minimum value.
