I need to change the key displayed in one section of a transposing part, but not in score. The score is untransposed and in B flat minor and modulates to F sharp minor in one short section. I would like the B flat clarinet to remain in C minor throughout with all the notes notated as flats and double flats.
I first tried changing the notes enharmonically in the part by selecting all the appropriate notes and applying Write>Respell>Use Note Above. This correctly changed the notes enharmonically in the part and not the score.
Then I again selected the section in the part and applied Shift-K bb and hit Opt-Enter (after I discovered that one doesn’t input the transposed key C minor but the real key B flat minor, which was not what I had expected.) This successfully changed the key in the part to C minor, but unfortunately also changed it in the score to B flat minor even though I thought that Opt-Enter not supposed to effect the score.
Thank you, @asherber , but if anyone wants to help me, they are going to have to hold my hand and take me through the steps one by one to accomplish this.
Sorry, I wasn’t offering a solution, just noting that your understanding that Alt/Opt+Enter wouldn’t affect the score is not correct—it affects that instrument in all layouts.
Don’t have a solution for you either, but I think a seperate file is not necessary.
You could create a duplicate player, having the transpositions, and exclude that player from the Full Score if all note entering is done. If the music changes, you still have to do that on 2 players as they are not linked, but that’s easier within the same file
