Change noticed in WL12 GUI

Thought to share a missing feature I noticed in WL12, in the process windows the value background was flickering in WL6

While in 12, there is no change to the background.

I wouldn’t consider that a “feature” but simply a “the way it was” vs. “the way it is”.

How would that improve the user’s experience?
Does the way it is now disturb or harm in any way the use of the software?

Looking at those two videos i see so many differences in the Tool and not a single one seems to be damaging to the operation.
But, of course, these are just oppinions! Even if on unremarkable details.

You are right, and it is not going to change the Normalization / Other Processes either, but I was sharing what I noticed yesterday.

As you can see from the video of previous Normalizer, there was 3 indicators - one in the form of a fader - vertical, the numerical input, and on the numerical input area, there was also a horizontal shade to show the value.

The GUI team of WL, whoever that was, was a class back then. They were not sparing even a small detail. May be the Montage looked a bit weird, that I think was because of dual color in stereo files.

I would also like to add, there are two approaches to audio in WL, one where the user listens and tweak audio (a song) while listening - using plugins (where a song is set to play for once and working while listening to it), and other where a large number of audio files are loaded and the files are stacked, cascaded and every file is played over and over.

In the first case, for mastering, the play button and the transport bar is used very less compared to the second set of people who use it.

WL, since 7, workflow and GUI is extremely insufficient for the second set of people.

It’s me, now and then :slightly_smiling_face:

In the current WaveLab version, you can click on a value cell, and while the mouse button is pressed, you can drag up or down, as if you had an invisible father. Actually, this was already possible in WaveLab 6

But now with the current WaveLab 12, you can also use the mouse wheel on each cell. Something that was not possible in WaveLab 6.

Moreover, you can copy and paste textual values in WaveLab 12, something you couldn’t do in WaveLab 6 (eg, try pasting “-4.5”… it works in WaveLab 12, not in WaveLab 6).

This is why I think WaveLab 12 is more functional in this domain.

This is unbelievable.

There cannot be substitute to a fader that can be called as an invisible fader. Please consider bringing the faders back to WL. Mouse Wheel and Ctrl + Mouse Wheel speed is decided by WL, while Fader speed is decided by user. Also, the fader and the function in the below video worked independently. In the same way, users can copy paste values even if there are faders in WL12.

Ok, i have to admit that from both of your videos in the first post (the one i replied to) the only thing i saw missing in the second video was the blinking numerical value.
In the second video it doesn’t blink.
Everything else in the second video seemed like additional features.

Hence, discard my comment as i couldn’t, and still can’t, see any important loss in features just based on videos in the first post.
Must be me. Sorry about that.
Proceed!

Yes, I came across this yesterday, and I thought to share, this post was about the blinking numerical value.
