Change playback speed in Dorico 3.5

I was afraid that the fixed value might truly be fixed at a quarter note and have been doing the calculation you suggest, asherber, since this is only an aid to proofreading. And I rarely define metronome values in the score. It would be nice to be able to input a desired playback beat and tempo as needed independent of the score.

If you don’t want metronome marks to show in the score, it’s very easy to add them as hidden tempo marks. That way, they affect the playback of the piece, they get stored with the piece, and they’re easy to change.

You enter a hidden metronome mark in the tempo popover (Shift+T) by enclosing it square brackets, like [q.=90] for dotted quarter = 90. The tempo mark will show up as a signpost.
