Change project tempo is terrible😠

Hello Cubasis team,

Our band is using shared multi track projects (audio only in DAWproject format) for learning and rehearsing new songs. For this purpose we need to change the project tempo (sometimes in loop mode) to learn more difficult parts of a solo or so.

Changing the project tempo in Cubasis is terrible. One can only change it with the +/- buttons that make a change of only 0.1 BPM per click.

Other mobile DAWs, like Fender Studio, have that too but also have a slider and - most convenient - the option to enter a direct numeric value.

Please, please add this feature in Cubasis with the next version.

Thanks
Bernd

You can swipe left/right on the BPM for faster changes, no need to use the +/- unless fine-adjustment is needed.

Being able to type it in would be nice and the lack of this seems like another oversight (same with the mixer volume, pan and eq etc) not sure why more advanced features (like bpm tap who even uses that?!) get priority over pretty basic and fundamental ones

Hi tonyszmanski,

I’m not sure if your Cubasis on Android looks like the iOS version, but when you open the Tempo track, look to the left to see the Data Point column, I have circled in yellow where I can type in my desired tempo, or I could just tap - or + to manually change tempo.

Hope this helps.

Mike

That is a useful workaround for the annoying global bpm limitation tbf but the necessity for adding automation just for the ability to type a number feels like a tiny bandaid on a gaping axe wound lol (eg. try and draw automation to get and exact numerical parameter from any other knob or fader, good luck you’ll need it )

Hello all,

I resolved the problem by using Fender Studio App. It is available on Windows, Mac-OS, Android and iOS. Since it will be used for distributing multi track projects für the band members to learn and rehears the new songs, the free version (with 16 audio tracks if you are logged in with your account) is sufficient for our needs. For this purpose, I don’t need MIDI tracks.
I’m fully aware, that it does not compete with Cubasis (which I owe as well) but with Fender Studio I can set up the multi-track projects (with Audio exported from my Cubase PRO) and share the projects in DAWproject format via my cloud with all members of the band.

Cubasis is available only for mobile devices.

We can consider this case closed. Thanks for answers and comments.

I’m not sure I fully understand what you saying, I use the tempo track very regularly and you can see by my screenshot below how easy it is to map a tempo track very precisely.

This is usefull if you want switch tempos mid track

But i think Tony talking about the normal way to set track tempo (withouth switching it), if you dont plan to change tempo within a song then making an automation channel just so you can type in the tempo seems unneccesary (and really disruptive to the workflow just to ā€œquicklyā€ set the tempo) and the automation channel will only be a clutter.

For tempo using global automation and precise data points which can be typed sure, but why cant we just type that in BPM in the top right? Not too sure

For the other automations its not as precise (ie no list or ability just to type in a value) e.g try getting a mixer channel pan back to ā€˜C’ after moving it, nightmare mate lol

Double click the C and the pan resets..

This is how it works on touchscreen, i imagine it’s the same with a mouse.

The point is we cant simply type in a value in alot of fields where this is basic 101 interface design oversight, plus if your automating panning for example can’t exactly double tap to centre half way through an export and messing with a bunch of tiny squares on that automation track forget it lol

Sorry just a bit salty having just forked out Ā£2k for a computer due to fact that stienbergs mobile devs can’t get basic features right

I understand what you are saying, Cubasis is a mobile DAW and I support in that sense it is limited compared to a desktop DAW, there are work arounds to these limitations and it’s something you either hate or accept. I also understand that the differences between iOS and Android can make a difference to how a mobile DAW can be used in these circumstances. When I first read this thread I thought a solution would be a simple one, obviously I was wrong, but I hope there is or will be a fix for your concerns.

Hi @Bernd_Ambrosi,

@Samuel_Lindeman already provided the answer to your question.
Below you’ll find a short clip showing the steps.

Changing the tempo should work easily and quickly using this method.
If your project contains audio tracks, please ensure that tempo stretch is enabled.

Best,
Lars
