Change the order of the mixer faders

Good morning,
I need to change the order of the mixer faders in both the PLAYBACK and MIXER panels as they do not coincide with the order of the instruments in the score. Is it possible to do this? I’m trying every which way but I can’t.
Thank you for your valuable help.

No, I don’t think that’s possible, I’m afraid.

I think it’s the order in which they were created.

Only by reloading a playback template (I think).

It looks like that the order is specified by the order of “VST and MIDI” instruments and the order of the MIDI channels in each instrument.

Bumping this to ask this as a feature request. It would sure be great if we could simply drag each instrument in the mixer to reflect the score.

Hello, as JANUS says, reloading the playback template rearranges the sliders according to the order of the instruments in the score.
Hi

FYI, If you have begun mixing, levelling, adding inserts/EQs/reverbs/sends/MIR Pro/etc, resetting your playback template is not an option, as it will entirely erase all your mixer settings and inserts etc. So once you’ve gotten to a finessed place in your mix, if you would like to re-arrange your channels, it should still be possible without having to lose all that hard work.

If you have a single and simple playback template such as just Halion or just NotePerformer, this will appear to be the case. However, if you combine different VSTs into a playback template, the mixer channels will actually be created in order of the endpoint configurations based on each VST instance loaded by your playback template, in order of how each plugin loads midi channels – and then onto the next plugin (so not in order of your score).

For example let’s say you have a traditional orchestral score order, using NotePerformer for most of your playback. But you wish to use an alternate kontakt library for flutes. What will happen is the mixer channels will now be in order of each loaded plugin, so in this example your flutes will end up after all your strings loaded by NP (or in some other kind of order which doesn’t correspond with your score, but instead it corresponds with midi channels behind the scenes).

For many users using a simple template of just NotePerformer, this is unlikely to be an issue, but I think it would be great to be able to manually re-arrange especially in more complicated mixing and playback scenarios.

Good morning, you are right, considering all these situations things get very complicated, so we have to hope for a future update that will make it possible to organise the mixer quickly and easily. I have only been using DORICO for a few months because I was previously using FINALE. With Finale, at least in this case, changing the position of the sliders was very simple. Sorry for my English but, as you may have guessed, I use an automatic translator. Thank you.
