Change the time signature of a bar in the middle of a piece WITHOUT affecting the following bars

Hi there! I would like to change the time signature of a single bar in the middle of a composition WITHOUT affecting the following passage. (See example bar 15: the time signature should change from 4/4 to 3/4 ; bar 16 should have the signature 4/4 unchanged. ) With the “Finale” software, this was possible with a mouse click (see appendix). Who can help me?

  1. Turn on Insert Mode and make sure the scope is set to Global Adjustment of Current Bar
  1. Delete the last best of that bar:

EDIT

  1. Once you switch Insert Mode off again, I think you may need to remove time signatures

There’s something weird in this particular example with the RH triplet and the LH half note – deleting the triplet (with the Delete key) seems to delete three eighth notes from the LH.

It works for me to add a quarter note on beat 4 in the LH, and then select that (in Insert mode) and delete it.

Edit: @Janus 's way works.

I’d go simpler than @DanielMuzMurray
Add a 4/4 time signature on bar 16.
Add a 3/4 time signature on bar 15.
Delete the single beat bar that appears (shift-B -1)

GREAT!! Thank you @Janus , that’s the solution!

I’m glad it was helpful. Can I ask a follow up question?

Do you understand why this works?

I think that when I re-signed bar 16 to 4/4 BEFORE I assigned bar 15 to 3/4, the composition was locked in from bar 16 onwards. Other methods of changing bar 15 that I tried resulted in errors in the structure of the subsequent flow.
