Changing common time to 4/4 makro in many flows at once - how to?
You can record a macro while entering a 4/4 time signature, then run the script wherever you want by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R.
Or, you can change the C for a 4/4 in the Music Symbols>Time Signatures. Then it will apply everywhere, in every flow:
That’s a visual change, rather than a “meaningful” data change.
Selecting the time sig and pressing Enter brings up the popover, where you can type (or paste 4/4). You could record a script to cover all of that, and then just run it on any selected C sig.
I don’t think Dorico makes any rhythmical difference between C (not cut C) and 4/4, does it?
As an migrant from Finale I try to understand the underlying logic/premises for Dorico
I’ve understood that one should look for program, makro solutions to problems instead of correcting one by one
Dorico’s underlying philosophy is of “From the global to the local”. Set things up in the Options, so that they apply to everything; and make local changes to properties where you want something different.
However, there’s no global switch to turn C into 4/4, so you’ll have to do that one by one; though there are ways of speeding that up with things like scripts.
