Changing the Track Color

If I press Ctrl and click on the left most area in the Track List, a list of my project colors show up.

If an Event, Part or Clip is selected, this operation will color that. If no Event, Part or Clip is selected, it will change the track color.

I request that this particular operation only ever colors the track and never an Event, Part, Clip or such. The same as the color selection works in the Mix Console.

Thank you!

EDIT:
It appears to only apply for when the setting Select Colors by Name is on.

I cannot replicate this (CB13), when a part has a color already. If we change the color of the track, the color of the part is not changed. But maybe I’m missing something here.

If you Ctrl + click here:

Pick a color when a Part is selected, what changes color?

Just the track, IF I have previously set a color to the event, sorry, to the part. Just to be accurate.

Then they fixed that in 13!
My first feature request fulfilled before I even requested it! :joy:

But… I see the same in CB12 just now.

@m.c Is this what you’re doing but getting different results??

I’m not sure

Here’s a gif. First I’m setting a color to a part. Then I move on and change the color of the track with the part either selected or not. In both cases, the part doesn’t change color.

I see the difference now.
What happens if you turn on the Select Colors by Name option?

Project > Project Colors Setup

In this case when ctrl-click on the track border and select a color, the part changes color while the track doesn’t.

Exactly!
My feature request is that it would change the track color, not the part color, no matter if the part is selected or not.
The thing I failed to realize is that it only misbehaves this way if you have Select Colors by Name turned on.

But then, maybe you should add in the FR, ā€œwhen we have ā€˜Select Colors by Name’ checkedā€™ā€?

(By the way, I didn’t even know about the Project Colors Setup, I don’t use colors a lot  )

I made an edit to the first post. :+1:
