It would be very useful to see name of channel which contained in metadata of file. For example when I import AATON Cantar X files names of channels it will help me for quick understanding where are “lavalieres” and where is “boom”.
This has been asked many times during past years before but nothing has happened yet.
I guess SB is so post oriented that they get no idea how important this is as film production start at the location.

The need for better clip, channel and marker naming options is one of my biggest gripes with Nuendo right now.

Yes, agreed.
But proper metadata is a whole thing, complex and needed at every level, from the very first step to the last.
It should be regarded as a whole strong implementation inside nuendo and not as a quick answer to some points only imho.
So I have to disagree with “nothing happened”
I see csv and edl management (!!!), good metadata basis on mediabay side, much better aaf handling in N6.0.7, Steinberg XML support which means XML support with some efforts…
I would say this is strong basis for way more.
Much better to do it good than fast, but still, I agree, we need it fast now…
I needed this soooo much today …

not sure which metadata fields you want to see, but there are some options here:
use the dropdown to test which contains yours (as Nuendo uses different names for the metadata fields).
Agreed though that metadata support should be much better! I’ve commented on this before and have not seen a lot of response/support/reaction from SB.
I know but there is no channel name, i set it on recorders on set, and in pro tools i can easly seen it, but not in neundo, too bad because it takes me hours to figure out what’s wrong when i got aaf from editors
Do you have soundminer? As a temp workaround, you can use workflows to copy the channel name to another field that Nuendo does read (in batch to all files). You would need to save that data so i’d advice work on a backup of the field recorder files or mirroring instead of embedding to the orig files. It is clunky but it should work.
I dont wanna any workarounds… this will be fixed or I cannot switch from pt… I have tons audio from booms, lavs, and recorders, all of those can be recognized by channel name
Relax, i’m only trying to help. Each DAW has it’s limitations is all i can say then.
