Choppy Video in Cubase 9.0.30

Reporting choppy video in 9.0.30. I checked the same video in Logic and it’s running great in Logic.

MP4 with AVC 1920x1080

Dunno what codecs are supported with the new video engine, but this is a pretty standard codec.

Use ProRes 422 (Proxy). It will save you a lot of hassle. MP4 files can be encoded very differently, some are well suited for Cubase, some are not.

Converting your file will take under 10 minutes.
On Windows, get yourself XMedia Recode (free). Start it, open your video file, select profile “Custom”, format “MOV”. Select your file in the list. Go to Video tab and select Codec “Apple ProRes”. Then on the same page, select profile “Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy)”. Go to audio tab and select Mode “Copy”. At the bottom, chose your destination folder. Click “Add to queue” and “Encode”. When finished, use this one in Cubase.
