Chord created from chord symbol gives proofreading warning

Why this warning? Shouldn’t Dorico create a chord without this warning?

Well, it is certainly not comfortable to play…

I don’t play guitar, so forgive my ignorance, but what is this numbering of fingers in the left hand? Aren’t normally only four fingers (numbered 1-4, starting with the index finger), available to press a string? Why is there a 5 showing here? Is it a thumb? That would be a stretch indeed.

Those are fret numbers, it’s common to use just one finger for more than one string when you see adjacent strings on the same fret - not always, but often. That is wide though - sacrificing for art.

Thanks, I could (should?) have known.

Yes, especially since some cellists also use frets

I’ve never played a fretted cello, nor da spalla, for that matter, but I’ve dabbled a tiny bit on viola da gamba. I’ve never used tablature.
I have an upright 5-string cello piccolo myself. My impression is that it’s probably mainly violinists (or viola players) that specialise in playing da spalla, as it is their ‘natural habitat’ for bowing and fingering technique. On a regular upright cello (da gamba you might say), you have your lowest string on the right, not on the left like a violin.
Also interesting that in the second video with the c minor prelude, it’s an instrument setup with four strings only, on a custom 4-string bridge, while it obviously was made to accommodate 5, as can be seen from the number of pegs and holes in the tailpiece.
I wonder (but doubt) if frets were ‘standard’ at all on these instruments.
More research needed, as always! Thanks for tickling my curiosity.

I am guessing here, but François Fernandez and Yun Kim are both, despite being violinists, excellent viola da gamba players. Thus they probably value the advantage of the frets, especially helping clarity on those very thick low strings of the da spalla instrument - and also adding some extra resonance on the higher strings.
