I have manually edited chord symbols in Dorico using the “Chord symbols” function.
Since the update to Dorico 6, the changes are permanently stored in the program and can no longer be deleted. How can I reset these settings?
Problem with chord symbols is: I want to have an individual chord symbol. with Dorico 5, I had to add every single root. Now in Dorico 6, that is not necessary due to the new feature “Apply to all roots”. But now, I can’t remove all the manually changed chord symbols.
Your edits could be in one of two places: either they could be saved in a particular project file, or they could be saved in your user library. The way to tell the difference is that if you start a brand new project based on one of Dorico’s default layouts, if your chord symbol edits appear in that file right away, they are in your user library.
Exactly how to proceed from here will depend on what other modifications you’ve made to settings that are saved in your user library. You could try moving the userlibrary.xml
file out of the way and then run Dorico again, and see what other modifications are missing.
We know that we need a better way to reset saved chord symbol appearance overrides in Library > Chord Symbols, and it is something we will certainly address before we leave the current round of work in this area.
