Hi, I want to start using chord tracks to compose my music. I am not a keyboard player and I have mostly composed through drawing in chords with my mouse which is tiring.
I don’t understand how to use the chord track. I know how to set it up, get the acoustic feedback and the rest but all my selections only play the chords in the lowest octave of my instrument, I want to increase the octave.Hl How do I do it? And also, when I select a root note in my chord editor, my bass note follows the exact same but not vice versa, really looking for help with this.
Hi,
You can drag and drop the Chord events from the Chord Track over to the MIDI/Instrument Track and then edit (transpose) the MIDI Notes freely.
Or you can set the voicing.
The factory chords are built from octave 1 (bass note), a direct octave transposition is not provided. As @Martin.Jirsak already mentioned, the Voicing, i.e. the position of the chord tones (except the bass note), can be altered, but this is not an octave-wise shift of all notes. Therefore, the simplest solution for an octave shift is to transpose the target track up +12 semitones (using MIDI Modifiers). Apart from that, you can of course build chords with any intervals in any octave position by yourself. Another way to influence the pitch is to use the Custom Voicing settings of the chord track (click on cog wheel):
The Bass Note can be set independently of the Root Note in the Chord Editor. By design, the interval between the two remains the same, if the root note is shifted. The other direction (bass note changes root note) would only prevent the independent selection of the bass note.
Thanks, that was helpful
Thank you
