Clarifications on ADM file import and track management in WaveLab 13

Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding the management of tracks generated after importing an ADM file into WaveLab 13:

  1. Deleting Tracks: Once the tracks for beds and objects are created, is it possible to delete them? It appears that the right-click “Delete Track” option is disabled for these specific tracks.

  2. Updating ADM Content: After a mixing re-run (re-render), I have a new ADM file. Is it possible to import this new file into the same Audio Montage I was previously using? Alternatively, is there a way to “re-link” or point the existing track content to the updated ADM file?

  1. No, this is not possible. However, on my to-do list for 13.0.20, there is either the option to skip importing one or more tracks or to skip exporting one or more tracks according to the audio level. The idea is to skip silent objects.

  2. are you speaking about an Atmos album and you want to replace one ADM clip with an updated one? Currently, this has to be done manually: erase the previous clip and insert it again.

Thank you, as regards as pt.2 I’m talking about an Atmos Master (I do not use Album features). I.E: I produce a first ADM file from mixing phase, I import it in Wlab for mastering task, then I discover some problems that cannot be fixed in mastering and I have to get back to mixing phase and produce another ADM file. Normally Audio files only have changed, beds and objects structure remains the same. Would it be possibile to refresh audio files in the same audio montage? I’d like to use the same audio montage as I have the correct mastering settings, the reference tracks, etc…

Sorry, it’s not possible. And this is unlikely to happen (complexity). In other words, you have to recreate a master montage.

This is actually achievable. First you have to delete all adm clips on the old montage tracks, so you have blank tracks ready, then create a new montage with new clips, go to the “Clips” menu and select all. Here comes the tricky part, you need to grab the clips under the “length” column, and drag onto your old montage tracks (hold and stop on the old montage tab for 2 seconds to switch). BTW it’s ridiculous to take all this trouble to achieve such a tiny function, why can’t it be done by inserting wav files on existing tracks like the stereo montage project.
