Clean EMG's

I’m running 81/85 EMG’s. I am having a hard time getting even close to a clean sound. I can turn down the volume and I’ve messed around with compressing and limiting, but there seems to still be those crunchy sounds. I know I could just use a different guitar, but that’s not really solving the EMG issue.
Does anyone have any advise? I was thinking there maybe some added hardware I could acquire from EMG or an effect pedal/rack that will kill some gain.

Whats your signal chain?

Don’t use emgs or record with somethng like a Zoom h4 and import as audio.

Good call, I get this from time to time in the studio, don’t know why I didn’t think of it
