Clef change within appoggiatura

Is it possible to have a clef change within an appoggiatura consisting of several notes?

I’d say yes:

Hm. That’s odd. Whenever I tried it, the clef jumped to the beginning of the appoggiatura. I’ll try again. Thank you.

while this is possible, it’s impossible to have a clef change right after an appogiatura, right?

I’m not sure whether it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but you can right-click the selected clef and choose Clef > After Grace Notes.

Yes, it appears the only way to get the clef change right after the grace notes is invoking it in the right-click menu, where until now I never looked for it. I wonder why this would be the only way. If it’s actually a property of the clef, I’d like to suggest also adding this option to the properties panel.
And I wonder why selecting the main note before entering the clef change doesn’t just work as well. Boring technical reasons maybe? The fact that the clef cannot move in between the grace notes by use of Alt-arrow may play a role here, as (I guess) grace notes seem to live outside the overall rhythmic grid.
Also slightly strange: if I select the beginning time signature, a full-size clef is entered at the start of the system only. But if I select the first grace note, I get a redundant (smaller) cautionary clef as well. Not a big deal – we can solve it if it happens – but the difference is a bit unexpected.

Thanks, I never knew about this function! I have to put a clef on the last eight of the bar before (because I need to change to bass clef right before the note and directly back) but it works in this case. But I can see cases where this wouldn’t really work, to change clef just for the appoggiatura, when there’s a note immediately preceding it.

actually, I somehow made it work.

steps:

  • insert pitches normally, including the appoggiatura
  • insert G-clef at the beginning of the new bar
  • set property to “after Grace Notes”
  • select appoggiatura and create another clef change.

It’s not the most intuitive (I wanted to just create clef changes for each note as appropriate), but it works. It seems like the order is important, because sometimes deleting clefs doesn’t change pitches.
