Hi all,
Is there a native dorico notation for colla voce? I want it to appear at the top of the score and in each part as do tempo markings.
I do input them with the Dynamics workaround… Input a dynamic, keep it selected, and in the properties panel, do the following :
enable Mute property in the Common part and tick it (it will not affect playback), tick Hide intensity marking, and enable prefix or suffix and write colla voce in the corresponding field. Choose the appropriate Text-alignment option.
You can alt-click it to make it appear on each staff… Hope it helps !
FWIW, I would like to see a proper option implemented : when a rall… or accel. is input, it would be VERY nice to be able to change this marking into “colla voce” or “suivez” in other staves. Quite complicated to implement, since the leading voice can be any staff. But the actual behavior (where it is the same marking for everyone) does not correspond to a whole lot of music litterature, so I am quite confident that the team will find a clever solution!
Hi Mark,
This was really helpful and just what I needed. On Dorico , now in October 2024, I couldn’t find Mute Property, but I achieved the result with a change of colour.
Thanks for your help, seven years on!

Would Suppress Playback in the Properties panel allow you to “mute” what you do not want to hear?
I’ll give it a try in a minute! Maybe Marc knows…
I must be missing something—couldn’t this just be system text?
Err, yes, @asherber, that was easier. I’m learning…!
