Collapse space for unused tokens in text frames?

Hello everyone,

I am creating a project template for use with scores going forward. I’ve set up my page template to include a text box with the dedication above the title. However, not all charts will have a dedication, and I would like to collapse the space reserved for the dedication token and move the title token up. Is there a way to do this?

I think you would need a duplicate Page Template but with the adjusted frames etc.

One (tricky) way around this, to avoid changing templates:

  • Delete the newline between the dedication and title tokens … so you have both type sizes running together with no space
  • Always include a newline at the end of your dedication string

You can’t type a newline directly in the 1-line field in Project Info, but you can in the multi-line fields below (or another program) and paste it after the dedication. It appears like a space in the dialog, but it still works as a newline in the text frame.
