How do you color note heads for selected notes in the score?
Can it be that hard to do?

Select the notes, check the properties panel (the bottom one, accessible through ctrl/cmd-8). In the first column, you’ll find « colour ».
Make sure you export your files (or print) with the colour option enabled.

Oooh this is a good start - is there a way to customise the Figurenotes Noteheads? I can only seem to access them with notes highlighted for editing. If I could change the colours of the Figurenotes or create my own colour set, that would be handy - can you advise please?
Go to Notehead Sets in the Library menu (of Dorico 4) and choose Pitched Noteheads.
Then double-cllick a notehead to edit it and change its color.
