Coloring Events and Tracks

Hello,

Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I regularly get frustrated when coloring events and tracks in Nuendo 13.

Tracks

  1. I can change the track color by alt-clicking in the Inspector, on the track, or in the Mixer by clicking on the track and selecting “Select Color.”
But this doesn’t work with multiple tracks (which is how I would like it to work), not even via q-link.

  2. I can select multiple tracks and then change the color using “Select Color for Tracks or Events.” However, I always have to be careful not to have any events selected, or press undo regularly.

Events

  1. I can select events and change the color using “Select color for tracks or events,” but I have to be careful not to have another track selected (especially in the split track list).

  2. I can use the Color tool, but I have to be careful not to have a track selected there either.

  3. What works is using the Color tool and Command + click on an event and then selecting the color. However, this only works with one event, even if I have several selected.

It would be so simple

  1. Select tracks, then select the color using the Inspector or the track, and that’s it. Regardless of how many events you have selected.

  2. Color tool only for events. Done.

Or am I missing something?

Regards.

Try using the standalone color palette (Shift + Alt + C). This is a toggle key command and it works with multiple track selections. You’d still have to make sure no events are selected when coloring tracks but you could do this easily by using Select None (Ctrl + Shift + A).

You can also make PLE commands to colorize selected tracks only to a specific color.
