Combine empty bars at the start of parts

Hi, How do I combine empty these bars at the start of an orchestral part?

I’m guessing that the text “Mysterious and Dangerous” is attached to an object in the second bar and is keeping the two bars from showing as a multi rest. If you attach the text to something in the first or third bar, I think that the first two bars of rests will combine.

Thanks a lot for your reply! Is there any way I could get Dorico to NOT automatically put the words in front of the tempo marking? I wrote the words after the tempo marking but every time Dorico switched the order :frowning:

Library->Engraving Options->Tempo

Or change it in the lower panel

Thanks Jesele, one can still learn something every day. I never noticed these options.

I didn’t know that either, but I guessed it might be there.
Always check Engraving Options.

Thank you so much! One more question, how do I get the parts to show the exact number of bars left at the end on top instead of 'Tacet al fine"? It doesn’t seem changeable when there are more than 2 bars left at the end…

Take a look at Engraving Options > Rests > Multi-bar Rests. You can choose to show regular multi-bar rests at the end of the flow instead of tacet.

Yes, for the musicians it is good to know wether they can go into the coffee break or wether they should better stay - depending on the number of bars rest until the end.
