Is there a printable Command Key Map that’s in color? The map from the Preferences/Key Commands/Print Summary doesn’t print in color. Does anyone have a color map?
That map is customised after your current set keycommands (both the factory ones and your added/edited ones), so it doesn’t male sense if someone sends you his/her map. And the map is visualised as an HTML file with colours in the browser. Probably you need to check your browser settings (?), pdf export and/or your printer colours options…
I can confirm that in Chrome and Edge on Windows, the key command map will not print in color to a printer or to PDF. I’ve looked at the CSS and don’t immediately see why not; it looks like the only special styles for @media print are for hiding the stuff at the top of the page.
@jk3horn, I tried further, and indeed, the normal print methods don’t work.
But in Firefox you have in the contextual menu a Take Screenshot command. And if you tell him to do the whole site, it will produce a very long PNG file with all colours. You can then cut it into smaller chunks to be printed (it works on MacOS, not sure if it is available in Windows too):
I can confirm it works in Windows 11.
Thank you all for your comments. I was able to print out the Global Key Commands Map from the Dorico site. I took screenshots, opened them up in Preview, enhanced the colors, contrast, sharpness, and saturation. Printed with Best quality and now I have a helpful booklet of the key commands for quick reference.
As far as I can see, it’s not in the CSS, but a printer setting.
In safari and Firefox on mac I can choose to print background colors.
Below a dutch screen, but you probably find it next to the option to print footers and headers
Excellent catch, @TonH! Yes, in Windows Chrome, under More Settings, there’s a checkbox for “Background graphics”. I wouldn’t have necessarily associated background graphics (images) with background colors, but ticking this box does solve the issue.
Asherber, How do I delete the both flats attached to the D flat half-note and quarter note in bar 42 since the key signature has 5 flats?
The properties panel has a accidentals visibility switch, and you should set yourself a command to toggle between show/hide/parenthesize accidentals, so that it’s really fast to make it look exactly as you wish!
@MarcLarcher has the answer for how to control individual accidentals.
Since these are cautionary accidentals – placed there as a reminder that Db is now in effect after the D naturals in the previous bar – you can also take a look at Notation Options > Accidentals > Cautionary Accidentals to control when they display in general. For example, this option should hide those flats, as well as other similar ones:
Is it possible to change the position of the grayed-out measure numbers in the piano score default layout?
Not that I know of.
If the bar number overlays (which are normally a helpful guide to see where you are in a piece) are boring you, you can deactivate them from menu View>Bar Numbers, and instead set (temporarily) bar numbers on each bar, where you need them to be visible: they will avoid collision by default:
I appreciate your replies but it is in Write Mode that the rehearsal numbers are too far above the staff for my liking. (See attached screenshot). I am hoping that there is a way to change the layout to have those Write Mode number closer to the staff.
You are showing the System Track here (toggled with ALT/OPT + T).
Those numbers (as you may know) are solely for reference during entering or editing; they will not show in your printed parts.
I understand that Derrek. Can their position be changed? ![]()
Doubtful. Since they do not print, the attitude is probably that positioning is not critically important. Needless to say, there may be cases like yours in which the location is inconvenient.
Thanks for your replies. I sent that question to Software Support. Curious what their reply will be. I’ll let you know.
No, there is no way to change the position of the system track.
If you don’t like the system track, and you don’t like @Christian_R’s suggestion of using actual bar numbers, you could try hiding the system track with Alt/Opt+T and then turning on View > Bar Numbers > Page View. This will give you the same light gray numbers near the staff that you have in galley view.
