Commercial use of beats and loops in Cubase 13

Hello folks,

I’m new to Cubase 13 and I know that there are DAWs from other providers where you are not allowed to use the included content, loops and samples commercially without paying extra for it.

But what is it like now in the Cubase area? -For example: with Groove Agent - with the “pattern” function? There are often already finished beat tracks or loops here to use. Am I allowed to use them at all when I publish my songs or do I have to record every note or beat myself?

I usually record almost everything myself using a midi keyboard, but there are a few things from Groove Agent that would fit well into a project.

And the same question arises, for example: with the chord pads, here too there is a “pattern” function, where some tone sequences are already programmed, can this be used as a tool for publication, or does each tone have to be recorded here yourself.

I don’t want to get into trouble after releasing or selling the song, I also tried to read the EULA but I don’t really understand it here.

Maybe one of you who knows about professional sales can tell you what is and isn’t allowed in Cubase with the including tools like Groove Agent etc.

Thank you! Kind regards Mel

unless I have been misled you are free to use all the sounds and samples in Cubase for your music. What you are not allowed to do is to sell the included sounds as samples yourself.
I think that is the short version, but honestly I wrote this just to make sure I see if anyone else corrects me

Like Glenn, I also think you’re allowed to sell music created with the content coming with Cubase. As far as I can tell, the only exception are educational licenses. If you bought an EDU license of Cubase, you can’t use it commercially. However, once it’s updated to a newer version, the license becomes a regular one.

Thank u for your answer, I hope you are right

Thank you for your answer,
if there is anybody who is not the same opinion, please tell me

Normally you should be able to use the included content in a commercial situation. As long as you don´t start selling it outright outside of the context of a musical work

That sounds unusual. Care to give an example?

For example Samplitude pro, Magix Music Maker and also in FL Studio some demo samples etc. are not allowed to use for example - you have to pay for ready loops, samples extra in some cases - some of these firms have Onlineshops you can pay the licences for every stem. It depends on the content. But I don’t find people talking about how it is in cubase. I can’t belive that the whole content of 20 GB of Samples thats included in cubase 13 is really for commerial use, because they are from big producers - well i don’t need that content really. For me its only about the pattern function in the tools like Groove Agent - but I think it would be useful, to know If there are any restrictions. I already asked the support of cubase 3 weeks ago but since now - No answer🤷

I Hope you are right👍

@Matthias_Quellmann Could you kindly offer some insight on the subject?

There’s some useful information here:
